TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber, commonly known as TPU, is a versatile material categorized into polyester and polyether types. Its impressive hardness range (60HA-85HD), excellent wear and oil resistance, transparency, and superb elasticity make it indispensable in various domains. From daily necessities and sporting goods to toys and decorative materials, TPU's halogen-free flame retardant variant can even replace soft PVC to meet stringent environmental standards. As an elastomer with a vitrification temperature below room temperature and an elongation at break >50%, TPU exhibits remarkable recovery after deformation. Polyurethane elastomers, a unique subset of elastomers, offer a diverse hardness and performance spectrum, bridging the gap between rubber and plastic. These thermoplastic materials have minimal chemical crosslinking, maintaining a predominantly linear molecular structure with some physical crosslinking, characterizing them as TPU.
