TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber is commonly classified into polyester and polyether types. With a remarkable hardness range (60HA-85HD), TPU boasts excellent attributes such as wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency, and elasticity. This versatile material finds applications in daily essentials, sports equipment, toys, and decorative items. Additionally, halogen-free flame-retardant TPU can substitute soft PVC, aligning with stringent environmental standards. Elastomers, characterized by a lower glass transition temperature than ambient temperature, exhibit >50% elongation at break and superior recovery post-deformation. Polyurethane elastomers, a significant elastomer subclass, showcase a broad hardness and performance range, sitting uniquely between rubber and plastic. This thermoplastic polyurethane, with minimal to no crosslinking in its chemical structure, features predominantly linear molecules with some physical crosslinking, hence referred to as TPU.
