TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) TPU stands for Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer Rubber, which is renowned for its incredible versatility. It primarily falls into two categories: polyester type and polyether type. Exhibiting a broad hardness spectrum (60HA-85HD), TPU is celebrated for its outstanding wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency, and exceptional elasticity. Its applications span across daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials, and more. Moreover, halogen-free flame retardant TPU can replace soft PVC, catering to the growing environmental demands in various sectors. An elastomer is defined by its glass transition temperature being lower than room temperature, elongation at break greater than 50%, and excellent recovery after external force removal. Polyurethane elastomer, a distinct subset within elastomers, bridges the gap between rubber and plastic, offering an extensive range of hardness and performance. Being thermoplastic, TPU features minimal to no crosslinking in its chemical structure; its molecules are mostly linear with some physical crosslinking, hence the moniker, TPU.
