TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) Thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer rubber, known for its versatile properties, is classified into polyester and polyether types. With a hardness range from 60HA to 85HD, TPU excels in wear resistance, oil resistance, and elasticity, making it transparent and suitable for various applications. This includes daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, and decorative materials. Halogen-free flame retardant TPU can also replace soft PVC to align with stringent environmental standards. Elastomers are defined by a glass transition temperature lower than room temperature, an elongation at break >50%, and excellent recovery after the removal of external forces. Polyurethane elastomers, with their wide hardness and performance range, bridge the gap between rubber and plastic, forming a unique class of polymer materials. These thermoplastic polyurethanes are minimally crosslinked in their chemical structure, resulting in essentially linear molecules with some physical crosslinking. This specific category of polyurethane is referred to as TPU.
