TPU (Thermoplastic polyurethanes) Thermoplastic Polyurethane Elastomer Rubber, commonly known as TPU, is a versatile material categorized mainly into polyester and polyether types. It boasts a broad hardness range (60HA-85HD), excellent wear resistance, oil resistance, transparency, and superior elasticity. TPU finds widespread use in daily necessities, sporting goods, toys, decorative materials, and various other fields. The halogen-free flame retardant variant of TPU can replace soft PVC, aligning with the increasing environmental standards. Elastomers, defined by their lower vitrification temperature than room temperature, an elongation at break >50%, and remarkable recovery after external force removal, represent a special category within polymers. Polyurethane elastomers, characterized by a wide hardness and performance range, bridge the gap between rubber and plastic. TPUs are thermally plasticized with minimal or no crosslinking, featuring primarily linear molecules with some physical crosslinking.
